HOW to CARE for My Buckets

No need to pamper this bucket. Simply let it age inside or out in the weather. It will develop its own patina.

If you plan to use it to carry liquids, please fill it with water for 4 to 6 hours to allow the staves to expand and form tight joints.

If you decide to coat, stain or paint the bucket, follow the manufacturers prep and application directions carefully. All coatings (such as linseed oil or Cetol) will darken the wood to some extent.

Historical Note: In colonial times farmers often used wooden buckets to collect cow's milk. To help keep the pails sanitary, they used melted paraffin to seal the wood.
